The Bobby McGee’s really should be illegal, what with depicting teddy bears bloody-mouthed and raucous on their latest EP cover and renaming their songs all over the place. For the record the content of the song entitled 'Danny Baker/Bob Marley' (previously simply 'Audrey Tattou' in live shows) here has nothing to do with the two men in question, though, ahem, I do happen to know the obscure allusion (the story is that Danny Baker set the ball rolling for Bob Marley’s death by breaking his toe in football match), but such a faux-pas is typical of the McGee’s mischief. S’Amuser Com des Fous is outlandishness with a true romantic heart, six anti-folk songs that sway with the tenderness of a kiss and the humour of beatific outsiders. It’s the kind of terrorism you can fall in love to. NJ
